National Commander Jeff Roy reminds all officers and members that there must be no national or local election politics external to MOPH matters demonstrated at any MOPH activities.  In addition, members are not to engage in political activities while wearing any MOPH insignias such as caps, blazers or jackets.  The pertinent clauses from the Public Law and the Bylaws are reprinted below for your information.

NONPOLITICAL NATURE OF CORPORATION

Sec. 10.   The Corporation, and its Officers and Directors as such, shall not contribute to or otherwise support or assist any political party or candidate for public office.

MILITARY ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, INC.

PART II

Bylaws

Article XV, Section 6 -- POLITICS.  The Corporation, including all Departments and Chapters, and its officers and directors as such, shall not contribute to or otherwise support or assist any political party or candidate for public office.  No discussion of partisan questions shall be permitted at any meeting of the Corporation, nor shall any nominations, recommendations, or endorsements for political office be made.

 

 

 


SEC. 594. CONDUCT BY MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES AND VETERANS OUT OF UNIFORM DURING HOISTING, LOWERING, OR PASSING OF UNITED STATES FLAG.

    Section 9 of title 4, United States Code, is amended by striking `all persons present' and all that follows through the end of the section and inserting the following: `all persons present in uniform should render the military salute. Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute. All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Citizens of other countries present should stand at attention. All such conduct toward the flag in a moving column should be
